Rezultatele cercetării arată că un frigider găzduieşte, în medie, 7.850 de colonii de bacterii pe centimetru pătrat. Unele mostre au indicat chiar şi 129.000 de microbi. Standardul recomandat de Comisia Europeană este, însă, de 0 până la cel mult 10 germeni pe centimetru pătrat.
Temperaturile foarte scăzute din frigider inhibă dezvoltarea microbilor dacă aparatul este curăţat în mod regulat. Însă acest obicei al curăţirii frigiderului nu este prezent în toate casele, motiv pentru care bacteriile se multiplică”. (RomaniaLibera.ro)
